It was a day steeped in tradition and to be marked in the annals of National Public School,
Koramangala. Bursting with pride, 73 of their Grade 12 students prepared to bid adieu to their
alma mater on 28 th January 2017. The grandeur of the students in black gowns and mortar boards
walking up the dais to receive the scrolls and adulations added to the splendor of the 12 th
ceremonial graduation day of the school.
The lighting of the lamp and the harmonious invocation set the tone for the momentous evening.
In her welcome address, Dr. Bindu Hari, Director NAFL, TISB & NPS Group of schools
highlighted the need for graduating adults to make wise choices in early life as their decisions
mark the course of their entire future. The Chief Guest for the evening, Mrs Jahanzeb Akhtar,
Commissioner of Income Tax, Government of India, Ministry of Finance in her fervent
convocation address, urged the young students to be worthy citizens by serving our nation in
varied capacities rather than living as secondary citizens in another country. In this way they can
give back to their not so fortunate fellow Indians an iota of the privileges they have the benefit
of. Mrs. Akhtar further reiterated that the dire need of the hour is the expertise and willingness of
the youth to cleanse the country off its malice rather than looking ahead to the bureaucracy alone
to sort things out. In the course of his speech, the Parent Speaker, Mr. G.S. Sridhar, father
of Atreya Sridhar, remarked, "In a crowd of children, an NPS student can be easily spotted
from a mile away. He/ she will be polite, obviously intelligent, but more importantly very
responsible and dependable!"
The ceremony culminated with a sumptuous dinner served in the school grounds as another sun
went down and another batch of eager students walked across the threshold to embrace a new
