Graduation Day

It was a day steeped in tradition and to be marked in the annals of National Public School, Koramangala. Bursting with pride, 73 of their Grade 12 students prepared to bid adieu to their alma mater on 28 th January 2017. The grandeur of the students in black gowns and mortar boards walking up the dais to receive the scrolls and adulations added to the splendor of the 12 th ceremonial graduation day of the school.

The lighting of the lamp and the harmonious invocation set the tone for the momentous evening. In her welcome address, Dr. Bindu Hari, Director NAFL, TISB & NPS Group of schools highlighted the need for graduating adults to make wise choices in early life as their decisions mark the course of their entire future. The Chief Guest for the evening, Mrs Jahanzeb Akhtar, Commissioner of Income Tax, Government of India, Ministry of Finance in her fervent convocation address, urged the young students to be worthy citizens by serving our nation in varied capacities rather than living as secondary citizens in another country. In this way they can give back to their not so fortunate fellow Indians an iota of the privileges they have the benefit of. Mrs. Akhtar further reiterated that the dire need of the hour is the expertise and willingness of the youth to cleanse the country off its malice rather than looking ahead to the bureaucracy alone to sort things out. In the course of his speech, the Parent Speaker, Mr. G.S. Sridhar, father of Atreya Sridhar, remarked, "In a crowd of children, an NPS student can be easily spotted from a mile away. He/ she will be polite, obviously intelligent, but more importantly very responsible and dependable!"

The ceremony culminated with a sumptuous dinner served in the school grounds as another sun went down and another batch of eager students walked across the threshold to embrace a new life.
