It always helps to start off the week with a healthy frame of mind.
With this view, NPS, Koramangala celebrated July 11-15, 2011 as
Health Week. It was aimed at circulating and promoting a healthy
lifestyle in the primary years of schooling.
The school witnessed a thematic assembly about
Martial Arts and benefits of exercise in daily routine. Dr. Dias
was invited to talk to the students on importance of good health.
Further to their regular classes of dance, yoga, physical education.
etc., experts were invited to talk, demonstrate and have interactive
sessions with all the students. Group exercises, aerobics were conducted.
Students put up PowerPoint presentations stressing
on the importance of a balanced diet and the pitfalls of junk food.
Teachers and students pinned up posters about healthiness, fitness
and hygiene. They also wore badges expressing solidarity towards
Parents were involved in the project and had to
send only nutritious food from home. Students with the help of teachers
put up a fruit stall and encouraged the children to buy fruits of
choice and taste. Proceeds from the sale were used to support charity.
All is all; the Health Week was successful in emphasizing
the need to adopt a healthy way of life in today’s fast paced
living. As Buddha rightly said, “To keep the body in good
health is a duty, or else we shall not be able to keep our mind
strong and clean.
