"Travel of the orient" - Goa

This year the topic for class assembly for grades 1 to 5 was based on the Indian States. Grade 2C’s destination was Goa, the smallest state of India, which is known as a Tourist’s Paradise.

The script was written keeping in mind the important facts connected with the enriched culture of Goa. The children spoke about its location, climate food, crop, occupation, famous buildings, festivals, music, famous personalities, handicrafts, wild sanctuary etc.

Each child was an active participant and shared a few lines which they rehearsed everyday with a lot of zeal. The students swayed rhythmically to the famous goan song Ya Ya Mayaya. They also sang a Goan song “Goa Amechan”. The students also conducted an audio visual quiz based on Goa.

The assembly was supported by a power point presentation. The assembly ended with a group song in English.

The guest speaker Ms Subhadra appreciated the students and gave a motivating speech.

As a class teacher it was indeed a proud privileged moment to see all 31 students dressed in bright floral coloured dresses and delivering their lines with confidence and perfection.
