"Gods Own Country" - Kerala

This year our school “National Public School, Koramangala” took us on a long tour to India. Starting with Himalayas we travelled all states of India to finally reach the tip of India that is Kanyakumari.

Our class i.e. Grade 1 C brought us to the culmination of class assemblies on different states of India. It was held in the school auditorium on a bright Thursday morning of 20th February 2014.

The preparations began in the month of January 2014 and every child put his/her best effort to showcase their talents.

The show began with an Audio-Visual on Kerala, followed by a poem in English and a skit in Hindi about King Mahabali and the festival of Onam. This was followed by one-liners on every district of Kerala with short audio-visuals on Kathakali and Kalaripayattu. Children sang a Malayalam and an English song. They also presented a dance and a scene of boat race held during the auspicious occasion of Onam. The assembly was supported with a power point presentation and display of charts on Kerala in the corridors near grade 1. It was an overwhelming experience both for children and teachers who helped in putting up this show.

The assembly concluded with a speech by Aysha ma’am. She reflected upon the various assemblies conducted by grades 1 to 5 on Indian states and emphasized upon “Unity in Diversity” which exists only in India. Rightly said by her in the end “Mera Bharat Mahaan”! .
