st.Art 2018

The first edition of ‘stArt’, an interschool art competition was conducted on 13th January 2018 in our school campus. Well attended by several schools around the city, the Saturday morning air was abuzz with excitement. The gates of NPS Koramangala saw students from various schools in the city walk in along with our own students who were part of the ‘Bake Sale’. The competition held for students from Classes 4th to 11th. ,was conceptualised entirely by a dedicated team of grade 11 students (Kurchi Mitra along with her team Neha Anna Mathew, Akshata Goyal, Akshaya R and Srujitha Bade).

The primary motive of StArt was to raise funds for Karunashraya, a palliative care home for terminally ill cancer patients. The topics of the competition were in accordance with the theme of the event- the youngest were tasked with ‘An Act of Compassion’, the middle group ‘Hope and Lavender Ribbon’ while the senior most category had to depict ‘Ana(r)tomy- the beauty of the human body’.

While the budding artists laboured away at their canvases for 3 hours in the classrooms, the ground was filled with the excited chatter of hungry students and the distinct shouts of the young shopkeepers eager to sell their wares and earn the Sold Out moniker, although this was not a part of the competition itself! The bake sale was a resounding success- the delicious food items prepared by the enthusiastic students were sold out within the first one and a half hours. The profit from the Bake Sale will also be donated to Karunasharaya. All in all, the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all- visiting students, bake sale vendors and volunteers alike.
