Senior School Sports Day 2019

NPS Koramangala celebrated its Triennial Senior Sports day – Urja 2019-20 with a great spirit on 20th December 2019. The mega event was graced by the 23-time billards and snooker World Champion Mr. Pankaj Advani and the Director, NPS group of schools, Dr. Bindu Hari. A tribute to the Fit India Movement launched by the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as to the indigenous games and sports of India, the event was a spectacular show of immaculate march past, energetic rendition by the school band, unique displays and thrilling athletic events by grade 6-12 students.

Expressing his pleasure at the synchronized display of youthful energy and discipline by the contingent comprising the four houses, Pankaj Advani advised the students to be ethical and principled while playing as it is not about winning alone but the respect we render towards our opponents.

The well-organized and mesmerising displays portrayed a rich mélange of indigenous games and martial arts of India which is rooted to the cultural heritage of our land. Sporting captivating costumes and accessories, the young showstoppers exhibited the essence of the games like hockey, chess, wrestling, kabbadi and kh-kho that blossomed from the sweet smell of our soil. The traditional martial arts display from various parts of India- Squay from Kashmir, Thang-Tha from Manipuri, Mardani khela from Kohlapur and silambam from Tamilnadu - made the spectators proud of our opulent legacy. Poetry in motion, Natyobics- an amalgamation of Nritya, Yoga and Aerobics - served as the crowning glory of the programme. The exciting races and recreational games in various categories brought out the best sportsperson in each of the participants. The day culminated with prize distribution and it was the Pioneer house that secured the best march past trophy and the Voyagers House jubilantly took the overall trophy home.
