Sonnet Symposium 2026
“When young minds discover the power of words, they do not just write poetry—they create experiences.”
On 31 January 2026, the Grade 4 students of NPS KRM proudly hosted Sonnet Symposium 2026, a literary celebration that beautifully showcased the creative and poetic talents of our young learners. The event served as a vibrant platform for students to present their work to parents and teachers, marking the culmination of three months of dedicated preparation, literary exploration, and collaborative learning. The symposium featured a rich and diverse range of poetic forms, including limericks, odes, sonnets, and haikus. Demonstrating impressive versatility, students presented their poetry in English, Hindi, and Kannada. Their confident recitations and thoughtfully crafted compositions reflected originality, linguistic competence, and a deep understanding of poetic expression and literary devices.
A special highlight of the programme was a beautifully sung and enacted musical role-play in Kannada based on the inspiring life of noted Indian environmentalist Saalumarada Thimakka. The Hindi group further enriched the experience by conducting engaging and interactive games for parents, such as identifying Hindi rhyming words and composing short poems using them. These activities fostered active participation and strengthened the home–school learning connection.
The most distinctive feature of the symposium was the interactive learning experience conceptualised and curated entirely by the students. Multiple stations, thoughtfully designed and managed by the young poets, guided parents through various poetic forms, literary techniques, and the step-by-step poetry writing process followed in class. The stations also featured engaging activities, interesting facts about poetry, and creative literary games devised by the students themselves. Parents were warmly invited to participate, making the event both immersive and meaningful.
The Sonnet Symposium was not merely a presentation of poems but a celebration of voice, imagination, and confidence. It stood as a testament to the dedication, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit of students and teachers alike. The event truly exemplified experiential learning at its finest and remains a memorable milestone for the entire NPS KRM community.
