Urja 2025–2026 - Triennial Sports Day

Where Energy Meets Excellence, NPS Koramangala's Triennial Mega Sports Meet, Urja 2025–26 was celebrated on 23rd December 2025 at the sprawling grounds of The International School of Bangalore, with grandeur, energy, and infectious enthusiasm. The event brought together students, parents, faculty members, and distinguished guests to celebrate athletic excellence, teamwork, and perseverance.

The occasion was graced by Ms. Nikki Ponappa, eminent sportsperson, golfer, coach, and entrepreneur, as the Chief Guest, along with the Guest of Honour, Dr. Bindu Hari, Vice Chairperson, NPS Group of Schools, and Ms. Jyotsna Nair, Principal, NPS Koramangala.

The day commenced with the General Salute in honour of the Chief Guest, followed by an impeccably coordinated march past by students of Grades 9 to 12, reflecting discipline, synchronisation, and House pride. The school band elevated the atmosphere with its spirited performance and intricate formations, adding rhythm and grandeur to the proceedings. The ceremonial lighting of the torch, oath-taking, and declaration of the meet open marked a powerful beginning rooted in the values of fair play and unity. Welcoming parents and students, Dr. Bindu Hari praised the growing participation and achievements of students across a wide range of sports. She also congratulated parents who participated in the recently held 5K Marathon at TISB, highlighting it as one of several initiatives that promote fitness and set a positive example for Gen Z. In her crisp and impactful address, Ms. Nikki Ponappa encouraged young sportspersons to be kind, confident, and focus on self-belief and self-validation.

Students of Grades 6 to 9 then captivated the audience with vibrant synchronised displays featuring yoga, aerobics-themed dance, fire dance, strength and core training, and creative choreography. These performances highlighted the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being, and coordinated effort. A special segment honoured students who have represented the school with distinction at the state, national, and international levels in sports such as basketball, tennis, boxing, football, cricket, skating, swimming, shooting, and cycling, underscoring the school’s strong sporting culture.

This was followed by several exciting athletic events, with students of the four Houses, brimming with pride, showcasing their support through creatively designed mascots and thunderous cheering. The celebration concluded with the distribution of prizes, recognising individual champions. The March Past Excellence and Best Cheering Team trophies were won by the Pioneers, while the much-coveted Overall Championship Trophy was bagged by the Voyagers.

The memorable day came to a close with a medley of Christmas carols, spreading festive cheer and wishing everyone a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.
